Notice

Unfortunately, the Green Mountain Relay will not be held this year, nor are their plans to hold it again. Registration simply did not come anywhere close to meeting our expectations, and the event would not have lived up to them as a result. If you are a team captain and have not received an email regarding your refund, please email theteam@greenmountainrelay.com.

Captain’s Checklist

Congratulations Captain!

It’s a big job and we have no doubt you are up to it. That said, we want to help you as much as we can. Here are some tips we’ve picked up over the years…

  • Designate a co-captain to assist. We’d recommend the co-captain be in the other vehicle if you are forming a standard GMR team.
  • Have your team and volunteers (if applicable) enter their information in the online database as soon as possible. This will allow us to communicate with them directly and in turn should make your job a little easier.
  • Prepare a phone and email list to facilitate communication and distribute to your team.
  • Arrange for vehicles. We recommend 12 passenger vans if possible, you’re going to be in there for a while!
  • Arrange for lodging (optional) or acquire tents (optional). We’ll have more information on what we think are the best options available soon.
  • Remind volunteers to sign in and be on time for their shift or the team will be disqualified.
  • Print out and read the Relay Handbook and Leg Map Book (you can’t do this until April).
  • Using the course leg chart, assign legs and list runners in order on the roster to be submitted at the Start. Make sure each runner reviews the course maps for their legs.
  • Make sure every one signs the waiver to be submitted at the start.
  • List runners in order on Team Time Record. Enter times during the race. Estimate van exchange times using runner paces.
  • Arrive at the Start about one hour before your assigned start time to go through the check-in process, do the final team/van organizing, and to start mingling with the other teams.
